About

When I first met Helen and the Boorman family in 1963 I noticed they did not have much money but they had three newspapers delivered (Medford Mail Tribune and both Portland papers), and they took photos! Thanks to the photos we have a great record of the Boormans during their early days. As we were cleaning out Ruth’s apartment I ran across a goldmine of old negatives from the early 20s, great quality. I can’t quit scanning. I have never seen some of these photos. Some of the photos in these albums are the results of my early days of scanning with an inferior scanner, before I had learned much. The album proves my saying: A birth certificate proves you were born, a death certificate proves you died, photos proves you lived. Ruth lived.

We mark our history like shallow footprints left in snow, and what little trace we leave, quickly melts away…unless you have the Internet, photos, and a scanner….Lloyd Smith
